WHERE DID SHAMANISM ORIGINATE?

Shamanism has been called the oldest spiritual path with estimates of its origin ranging as far back as 40,000 years.  Although elements of Shamanism have been noted in almost all ancient religions, Shamanism is not a religion-it is spiritual.

WHAT IS SHAMANIC HEALING

Shamanic healing is a very deep and profound type of spiritual energy healing that can promote healing in virtually all aspects of life. It is particularly beneficial for problem solving and personal healing, including soul loss.

WHAT IS THE ROLE OF A SHAMAN?

Historically, a Shaman was a ritual leader performing ritual and hunting magic, herbalist, divination channel, mediator between people and the spirits and a guide assisting departed souls to the afterlife.

Although many Indigenous Shamans today retain most of their traditional abilities, the focus of most modern Shamanic healers is that of a

· spiritual mentor,

· prophet,

· healer,

· mediator who facilitates self-healing and personal growth,

· or a guide escorting departed souls to the afterlife.

WHAT IS SOUL LOSS OR DISASSOCIATION?

When we are about to suffer a trauma, the part of the soul that can relate to what’s about to happen, will fragment and split off.  When the trauma is over, the fragment of soul will usually reunite spontaneously. This attribute of soul is a survival mechanism. It allows our psyche to survive the pain of the physical or emotional trauma. There are circumstances where the fragment is not able to reunite spontaneously. From a Shamanic point of view this is termed soul loss; the psychological term is disassociation.

ARE THERE SYMPTOMS OF SOUL LOSS?

A few ways a person might demonstrate soul loss are

· chronic fatigue,

· addictions of any kind,

· chronic depression,

· suicidal tendencies,

· inability to release emotional trauma from the past, a death, divorce or other loss,

· memory gaps,

· feeling disconnected,

· major illness or disease,

· feelings of guilt, shame or unworthiness,

· or feeling disempowered.

DOES SHAMANIC HEALING DIFFER FROM OTHER HEALING MODALITIES?

The Shaman is distinguished from other healers by the methods used to invoke a healing. A shaman will “Journey” or use an “altered state of consciousness” to access information from the spirit world on behalf of another person. The information retrieved is used for further insight or healing. Shamanic healing is based upon the belief that all healing includes a spiritual (soul) aspect. By healing the soul we heal the physical, mental and emotional aspects of ourselves.

HOW DOES A SHAMAN HEAL?

A Shaman can enter the spirit or energy of anything or anyone. Shamans enter an altered state of reality, which is referred to as a Shamanic state of consciousness, to communicate with the unseen inner spiritual reality to create changes in the physical reality which we perceive outwardly.

A rhythmic beating drum, rattle or stick is generally used to facilitate a Shamanic state of consciousness for the Shaman to journey to the spirit world to access their guides, totem animals or helping spirits for information, guidance or wisdom.

Drumming is considered the most powerful method of accessing the Shamanic state of consciousness because the Shaman is in control of the journey the entire time.  Journey by drumming requires development of focus, intention, will, memory and attention.

The rhythm of the drum is scientifically known to alter the brain waves of the Shaman to the alpha and theta ranges, in contrast to the beta waves characteristic of ordinary, eyes-open consciousness. Indigenous peoples refer to drumming as “the heart beat of the earth.” The electromagnetic resonance frequency of the earth has been measured at 7.5 cycles per second, which is equivalent in the brain waves of the Shamanic state of consciousness. It appears that drumming allows Shamans to align their brain waves with the pulse of the earth.

There are many components that a Shamanic healer may employ, some of which can include

· soul retrieval

· extraction

· soul escorting and accessing ancestral memories (Akashic records)

HOW DOES A SHAMAN HEAL?

WHAT IS SOUL RETRIEVAL?

Soul retrieval is one of the primary types of healing that a Shaman will perform. The Shaman enters a Shamanic state of consciousness and will journey on behalf of another person to retrieve soul fragments that have not reunited spontaneously after a trauma or that may have been taken by another person.

During the soul retrieval the Shaman is guided by spirit, totem animals and guides; only those soul fragments that will be both helpful and healing to the person at this time are sought to be brought back.

The Shaman will reunite the soul fragments with the person after returning from the journey. Each soul fragment has its own characteristics; once reunited and integrated, the area of that person to which the fragment is related will be enhanced.

WHAT IS EXTRACTION?

WHAT IS SOUL ESCORTING?

WHAT IS EXTRACTION?

An extraction is a healing that is performed either as a primary healing or just prior to a soul retrieval.  When a soul fragment separates, it creates a void, and this void can draw in negative energy or an intrusion. The negative energy or intrusion can be comprised of a spirit attachment or an illness that has now set in.

The Shaman will enter a Shamanic state of consciousness in order to find the intrusion(s). Once the intrusion(s) is located, the Shaman will employ different methods to remove it. The Shaman will also intentionally direct a healing energy or vibration into the body so that no other intrusion will infiltrate where the other was just removed.

WHAT ARE ANCESTRAL MEMORIES AND AKASHIC RECORDS?

WHAT IS SOUL RETRIEVAL?

WHAT IS SOUL ESCORTING?

Some souls become lost, and don’t realize they have died or are trapped in between realms. Shamans frequently assist souls to cross over. In some cases, a lost soul may have attached to a living person. This is called Spirit attachment. A Shaman can remove this attachment while performing an extraction and then escort the soul to cross over.

In other cases a soul may be perceived in what we may call a haunting; in most situations this is a soul that is trapped or does not realize that it has died and needs a loving guide to escort it to cross over. Shamans become well adapted to escort souls to pass over as well as to escort soul fragments back to their living person.

WHAT ARE ANCESTRAL MEMORIES AND AKASHIC RECORDS?

Physically, the memories of our ancestors imprint in us on a cellular level. We retain the knowledge of those that have come before us and can access this information. We repeat both good and bad patterns as a result of cellular imprinting. A Shaman can access this information and use it for further insight or healing.

The Akashic records are energy imprints of all spiritual energy that has existed, is existing or will exist. By accessing the Akashic records, the Shaman can gain further insight that can reveal the primary cause of an illness or problem.
